Study #2: OSHA

The next study I have results for is the study by OSHA on what is called the "Brazilian Blowout Acai Professional Smoothing Solution". There are 2 tests per page for a total of 24. All tests showed formaldehyde exposure levels for short-term (STEL) and a time-averaged 8-hour exposure (PEL) fell below safety levels. Interestingly, it appears that one short-term sample was collected for 35 minutes, instead of the required 15-minutes for short-term exposure. As such, this would invalidate the STEL value for that sample and should be disregarded.

Study #1: USC Professor

In an effort to independently analyze various tests on keratin-based hair smoothing products, I shall provide actual results from each study that are publicly available, or that I am able to obtain. The first study presented is by Dr. James Haw, of USC.
